Dear Fellow Members of the Jazz Community,
As a lot of you may know, this Holiday Season, our newly founded not-for profit, The World Art Project will be traveling down to the hurricane ravaged Gulf Coa! st, with a busload of professional singers and performers to carol in the most neglected and forgotten areas. We hope to bring some love, some music and a little Christmas spirit to those desperately in need. I am writing this email to ask if you all could help with contributions to get our group down there. If everyone who receives this email could donate $25 tax deductible dollars, we'd be able to give some Holiday Cheer to a lot of people who could really use it. (if you can swing more, we'd greatly appreciate it!) It's very easy. Just click here http://www.worldartproject.org/donate.cfm follow the instructions and you're done. I was down in Mississippi and Louisiana last week and................... it is very bleak. Many, many people have lost everything and are still living in their cars or in pop-up tents in their front yards. They do not have a lot to celebrate. It is our hope that in some small way, we will be able to do something for those who have lost so much this year. If you can help, we'd be thankful. Liza Politi Co-Founder/Creative Director The World Art Project For more information about the World Art Project, please visit our website. http://www.worldartproject.org. I recently performed another community service that was rewarding for all involved. I would encourage any of you who are willing to donate an hour of your beautiful music for a great cause to contact the organization. Below is a letter of appreciation I received along with all necessary contact info. Yours in service, Rita Selby
Department
of Veterans Affairs Dear Rita: On behalf of Recreation Therapy, I would like to thank you for coming in as a volunteer to perform for our inpatients. As you experienced, these veterans thoroughly enjoyed your singing and playing the piano. Your warmth and ability to connect with the patients as individuals, as well as your evident talent and skill, created a memorable event. We would be pleased to have you back, and look forward to staying in touch. Best regards, Linn W.
